🛡️ Whitepages Opt-Out Guide (2025-2026 Edition)

Whitepages is a major data broker that provides contact info, criminal records, and property details. Removing your listing here is essential, as many other smaller "people search" sites scrape their data directly from Whitepages.

📋 Overview

  • Processing Time: Usually within 24–48 hours.
  • Difficulty: Medium (requires phone verification).
  • Requirements: Profile URL and a phone number (mobile or landline) for a verification call.

🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Locate Your Profile URL

  1. Go to Whitepages.com.
  2. Enter your First Name, Last Name, and City/State.
  3. Locate your record. Note: If you see "View Full Report" (Premium), click it to find the unique URL, but for standard listings, click "View Details".
  4. Once your profile is open, copy the URL from your browser's address bar.

    It should look like: https://www.whitepages.com/name/John-Doe/City-ST/abc123...

Step 2: Access the Suppression Portal

Do not use the standard site search for the next steps. Navigate directly to the specialized suppression page: 👉 https://www.whitepages.com/suppression-requests

Step 3: Submit Your Request

  1. Paste the Profile URL you copied in Step 1 into the box.
  2. Click "Next".
  3. The system will display the record. Confirm it is correct by clicking "Remove Me".

Step 4: Select a Reason

  1. Choose a reason from the dropdown menu (e.g., "I just want to keep my information private").
  2. Click "Next".

Step 5: Phone Verification (Crucial)

  1. Enter a phone number where you can receive an automated call immediately.

Pro Tip: If you don't want to use your primary number, use a Google Voice or burner app number.

  2. Check the box to confirm you are the person on the listing.
  3. Click "Call now to verify".

Step 6: Enter the Verification Code

  1. You will receive an automated call from Whitepages.
  2. The website will display a 4-digit verification code.
  3. When prompted by the automated voice on the call, type the 4-digit code into your phone's keypad.
  4. Once the system confirms the code, the website should refresh and show a "Success" message.

💡 Pro-Tips for Notion Users

  • Premium vs. Standard: Whitepages sometimes has two listings for one person (a free one and a "Premium" background report). You may need to repeat this process if your name still appears in "Premium" results.
  • The 24-Hour Rule: While Whitepages usually removes data quickly, it can take up to 48 hours. Set a Notion reminder to verify the link is dead two days from today.
  • Email Alternative: If the phone verification fails, you can email privacyrequest@whitepages.com with your name and profile URL to request manual removal.

Still visible after 48 hours?

Data brokers sometimes re-create profiles from new sources. We recommend setting a calendar reminder to check again in 3 months.
